Creeper legume, in conjunction with biochar, is a potential tool to minimize soil erosion

چکیده
Accelerated soil erosion and landslides are destructive consequences of road development intensive agriculture in the central highlands Sri Lanka. Properly designed vegetation covers can play a vital role control. Identifying plant that adapt to eroded land with low-nutrient supply is critical for natural management. A perennial creeper legume, Vigna marina, adaptable marginal lands used control Australia, was introduced Lanka via 2004 tsunami. The objective this study assess V. marina under five different substrates, including reference treatment (RT) recommended optimal legume growth subsoil (SS) decomposing parent materials (DPM) without or 20% Pinus wood biochar (SSb, DPMb). parameters were order RT > SSb = DPMb SS DPM. Following growth, nitrogen (N) content DPM increased from non-detectable 1.83 0.99 mg g−1, respectively. recorded an increase N by 1.38 0.77 lost 3.31 g−1. Compared RT, root nodules 3× DPMb, 2× SS, >2× Amending enhanced marina. conjunction biochar, be effective tool provide vegetative cover exposed soils and, thus, minimize on cuts other resources.

Impacts of Biochar on Physical Properties and Erosion Potential of a Mudstone Slopeland Soil
Food demand and soil sustainability have become urgent issues recently because of the global climate changes. This study aims to evaluate the application of a biochar produced by rice hull, on changes of physiochemical characteristics and erosion potential of a degraded slopeland soil. Rice hull biochar pyrolized at 400°C was incorporated into the soil at rates of 2.5%, 5%, and 10% (w/w) and wa...

Impact of Biochar on Organic Contaminants in Soil: A Tool for Mitigating Risk?
The presence of biochar in soils through natural processes (forest fires, bush burning) or through application to soil (agriculture, carbon storage, remediation, waste management) has received a significant amount of scientific and regulatory attention. Biochar alters soil properties, encourages microbial activity and enhances sorption of inorganic and organic compounds, but this strongly depen...
متن کاملForest Road Design in Stable Location to Minimize Erosion (Case Study: Vaston District)
Soil erosion is of the most important environmental challenges and factors of forest damage, which is, occur because of the land use change, road construction and lack of vegetation cover. Forest soil is naturally penetrable but forest roads are not. This issue causes the flows runoff on road surface and washes soil particles. Thus, forest roads must be planned and constructed accurately. So, t...
